A ready standard solution for a commercial electricity metering cabinet of the ШУ series for 0.4 and 10 kV networks — a metering unit with a meter, current transformers and a test terminal box, ready for connection to an automated meter reading (AMR/АСКОЕ) system. The solution is compiled from real projects of 2021–2026 (ШУ-3, ШУ-5, ШУР-6 versions in IP54/IP21 enclosures). The DWG set is free on request via the form.

What a commercial metering unit is

The commercial metering cabinet is the point where billing metering of consumed (or delivered) electricity takes place. It houses the meter, measuring current transformers, a test terminal box for meter verification without shutting down the facility, and terminal rows. For metering on the 0.4 kV side the meter is connected directly or via current transformers; for 10 kV metering — via the current and voltage transformers of the cubicle. The cabinet is prepared for data transmission to an AMR system.

  • Enclosure protection degree IP54 (outdoor installation) or IP21 (indoor)

  • Test terminal box (switch) for meter verification and replacement without de-energizing the facility (with short-circuiting of the CT secondary circuits)

  • Drawing language — Ukrainian; CT ratios and meter type are defined by the site-specific design

FAQ

What is the difference between the IP54 and IP21 versions?

IP54 is a dust- and moisture-protected enclosure for outdoor or damp environments; IP21 is for dry indoor rooms. The version is chosen according to the installation location of the metering cabinet.

When is metering direct and when via current transformers?

Direct metering is used at low load currents; at higher currents the meter is connected via measuring current transformers with an appropriate ratio. The limit is set by the design load of the facility.

Is the solution suitable for commercial metering at 10 kV?

Yes — the metering unit is built on the measuring current and voltage transformers of the 10 kV cubicle; the cabinet is ready for integration into an AMR system.
