Hybrid Solar Power Plant with BESS, 300 kW

General information

Hybrid solar plant with battery storage, 300 kW

A 300 kW hybrid solar power plant with battery storage is a solution for mid-size manufacturing plants, refrigerated and dairy facilities, grain elevators and logistics warehouses, where the daytime load is consistently high and a power interruption costs money. The plant reduces daytime electricity purchases from the grid and keeps critical loads running on batteries during outages.

Engineering parameters of the 300 kW plant

  • Module array: a 300 kW inverter is typically paired with an array of ~330 kWp (DC/AC ratio 1.1–1.2). That is roughly 560–570 modules rated 580–590 W (monocrystalline TOPCon, Tier-1 per the BloombergNEF classification).
  • Area required: pitched or metal-sheet roof — approximately 1,800–2,000 m²; flat roof with ballasted mounting — 2,300–2,600 m²; ground-mounted rows — around 0.4–0.5 ha.
  • Battery capacity: sized to the consumption profile; the typical range for 300 kW is 300 to 600 kWh (LiFePO4, expandable by racks). A smaller capacity backs up critical loads; a larger one shifts evening consumption onto your own generation.
  • Estimated yield: for southern Ukraine (Odesa region) — about 1,360 kWh per 1 kWp per year with PR 0.80 taken into account; for a ~330 kWp array that is about 450,000 kWh per year, or on average ~1.2 MWh per day.
  • Delivery time: installation works — approximately 6–10 weeks; the full cycle including TU (grid connection conditions), design and approvals — 4–7 months. The schedule is fixed in the contract.

Indicative cost

The grid-tied part of an industrial solar plant (modules, mounting structures, inverters, cabling, installation) costs approximately 450–650 $/kW depending on the roof or ground type and the equipment class. The battery part is priced separately based on the selected capacity. An exact price is quoted against your single-line diagram and consumption profile.

Payback

Payback is calculated individually — based on your tariffs, consumption schedule and plant configuration. We prepare the calculation from your facility's input data.

Scope of works

  • Consumption audit and sizing of the plant and battery capacity.
  • Design, obtaining TU from the distribution system operator, approval of the connection scheme.
  • Upgrading the main distribution board, VRP, ShchO panels or KTP substation if required — we manufacture switchboard equipment at our own plant in Odesa.
  • Installation of mounting structures, modules, inverters and batteries; cable routing.
  • Commissioning by our own certified electrical testing laboratory, putting into operation, monitoring and dispatch.

FAQ

What is the minimum investment volume for an industrial solar power plant?
It depends on the plant's capacity and the investment format. Typically, the starting amount is from €100,000 for smaller projects (1 MW) and higher for large-scale plants.
What is the average return on investment for solar power plants in Ukraine?
Project profitability depends on construction costs, electricity tariffs and grid connection conditions, so it is calculated individually for each project. We provide indicative return figures in a financial model based on your input data.
How much time is needed to build and launch a solar power plant?
The typical project timeline is 5–8 months: from site selection and obtaining permits to commissioning the plant.
What warranties apply to the equipment?

The warranty periods below are set by the equipment manufacturers according to their warranty certificates. LK Energy's warranty covers installation and commissioning works under the contract.

  • Solar panels – up to 25 years of manufacturer's performance warranty.
  • Inverters – 5–10 years (with the option of extension).
  • Monitoring systems and storage units – typically 5–7 years.
How does the investor earn income?
Income is generated from:
  • selling electricity on the market (balancing market, bilateral agreements, auctions),
  • savings on own consumption (for corporate clients),
  • participation in “green” generation programs in the EU (in the future – cross-border PPA).
What risks exist?
Main risks:
  • regulatory changes in the electricity market,
  • technical equipment failures,
  • weather fluctuations (solar activity).
We minimize these through the use of reliable equipment suppliers, project insurance and sound financial planning.
Is it possible to participate in the project without full financing?
Yes. We work with phased payment against the works schedule. If you are arranging a bank loan or leasing, we prepare the technical part of your application: a technical and commercial proposal, a generation estimate and a cost breakdown. The financing decision and its terms are made by the financial institution.
Is grant or donor support available?
Ukraine periodically has renewable energy support programmes run by international financial institutions and donors. The set of programmes and eligibility terms change, so we check what is currently available for your specific project at the time of enquiry. Support is not guaranteed and is outside our control.
Who operates the plant after launch?
Under a service agreement we cover the technical side: plant monitoring, scheduled maintenance, and repair or replacement of equipment within the scope and on the terms set out in the agreement. Legal support and accounting remain with the plant owner.
Is it possible to invest remotely?
Yes. All legal procedures can be arranged without the investor's mandatory presence in Ukraine – through a power of attorney and electronic document management.
