General information

ORU-35 (Ukr. ОРУ-35) is an outdoor switchgear for a voltage of 35 kV. LK Energy Group (a switchgear equipment manufacturer, Odesa; company since 2005, own factory since 2015) developed the ORU-35 design and has experience in its manufacture and installation. The device is assembled from unified transportable factory-made blocks: a metal load-bearing frame with mounted high-voltage equipment (circuit breaker, disconnectors, current transformers, busbars) and auxiliary circuit elements, rigid and flexible jumpers and tap-offs, and cable structures. By combining the appropriate blocks, the required ORU-35 configuration is formed for the specific single-line diagram of the facility; relay equipment is not installed in the block.

ORU-35 is manufactured to order: the composition of blocks, the single-line diagram, and the rated currents and withstand currents (dynamic and thermal) are determined by the customer's project and technical specification. All switching equipment is vacuum type (vacuum circuit breaker, type per project); LK Energy Group does not use SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride) gas-insulated equipment. The device is designed for outdoor installation.

Description and Purpose

A 35 kV outdoor switchgear installation receives and distributes electricity at the 35 kV voltage class, with the high-voltage equipment (disconnectors, current transformers, busbars) mounted outdoors on metal support structures. It is assembled from unified, transportable factory-built modules. Suitable for nodal substations of regional power utilities (oblenergo), wind power plants, solar power plants and 35/10 kV substations. Ratings and configuration are selected to match your project and technical specification. Typical example: 630 A main circuit, 1000 A busbars, operating voltage up to 40.5 kV.

What is 35 kV outdoor switchgear and what makes it distinctive?
It is an outdoor switchgear installation at the 35 kV voltage class for receiving and distributing electricity. Which is cheaper: outdoor switchgear or indoor switchgear (KRU) at 35 kV?
Outdoor switchgear is usually cheaper at the equipment procurement stage, since it does not require a capital building or an insulated container. However, it occupies 2–3 times more land area than indoor switchgear (KRU). That is why outdoor switchgear is chosen where land is not in short supply.
