Concrete package transformer substation (BKTP)

Description & purpose

BKTP is a package transformer substation in a concrete enclosure. It receives 6(10) kV medium-voltage power, steps it down to 0.4 kV and distributes it to consumers. It is installed outdoors on a prepared foundation: the reinforced-concrete enclosure serves as both the housing and the building of the substation.

Why a concrete enclosure

  • higher fire resistance and mechanical strength than metal enclosures;
  • resistance to vandalism and environmental impact;
  • more stable thermal conditions for the equipment in summer and winter;
  • long enclosure service life without painting or anti-corrosion maintenance.

Configuration

A typical BKTP consists of a medium-voltage switchgear compartment, one or two power transformers, and a low-voltage switchgear compartment. The diagram, transformer ratings, protection devices and metering are selected for your facility — from a single-line diagram or a questionnaire.

We manufacture at our own factory in Odesa, perform factory testing, and arrange delivery and supervised installation across Ukraine. Related: substation construction, what BKTP means — in the glossary.

Composition and technical parameters of the 10(6)/0.4 kV block module

A BKTP rated 10(6)/0.4 kV is a factory-ready substation in a block module, which LK Energy Group manufactures at its own production facility in Odesa. It is designed to receive, transform and distribute electricity in 10(6) kV networks with 0.4 kV output supplied to consumers in the utility, industrial and agricultural sectors. Switching on the 10(6) kV side is performed with vacuum circuit breakers (SF6 gas-insulated equipment is not used).

The BKTP consists of: a block module (enclosure) with built-in compartments, a 10(6) kV switchgear, a power transformer, a 0.4 kV switchgear (low-voltage switchboard), cable compartments and grounding units. The enclosure degree of protection, power transformer rating, and ratings and currents (including short-circuit currents, busbar cross-section) — project-specific/TS.

FAQ

How does a BKTP differ from a metal-enclosed substation?
Functionally it is the same substation; the difference is the enclosure. Concrete is stronger and more durable and keeps a better thermal regime; metal is lighter and usually cheaper. The choice depends on the site and project requirements.
How many transformers can a BKTP house?
One or two. Two-transformer schemes are used where consumers require power supply redundancy.
What do you need from us for an estimate?
A single-line diagram or a completed questionnaire. If there is no diagram, send the list of loads — we will help with the rest.
Do you perform installation and connection?
Yes. We are a full-cycle company: manufacturing, delivery, installation, commissioning and handover.
