KTPGS (steel enclosure)

General information

KTPGS package transformer substation

KTPGS is an outdoor transformer substation in a steel "house-type" enclosure: it takes 10 (6) kV, steps it down to 0.4 kV and distributes it over outgoing lines. It is delivered fully assembled, with the power transformer and the HV and LV panels already installed; the 2KTPGS version comes in two enclosures. The design is through or dead-end, with a cable or overhead incomer.

The main use case is urban networks, where the line has to pass through the substation rather than terminate at it: single- and double-radial schemes and a ring. What remains to be done on site is the foundation, the cabling and commissioning — not assembling the substation unit by unit.

Capacity

The power transformer rating is 160–1600 kVA. The transformer compartment is designed to the applicable codes for a transformer of up to 1600 kVA. Confirmed in service by 5 × KTPGS-1250 units at a 4.95 MW industrial solar plant (serial nos. 173996–174000).

What our supply includes

The enclosure, the switchgear cubicles and the assembly to your single-line diagram are manufactured by LK Energy (Odesa). The power transformer is a component supplied within the substation. External networks, the foundation and on-site commissioning are costed separately.

Design options and main circuit diagrams

Design options

Through or dead-end; a cable or overhead incomer; one enclosure (KTPGS) or two (2KTPGS). The through scheme is what sets KTPGS apart from small dead-end units: the line passes through the substation and does not terminate at it.

Main circuit diagrams

  • dead-end, with an overhead incomer and cable outgoings;
  • through, with cable incomer and outgoings;
  • through, with LV-side sectionalising;
  • through, with HV- and LV-side sectionalising.

Supply scheme

Radial, double-radial or ring — to suit your network configuration.

Where it is already in service

At a 4.95 MW industrial solar plant, 5 × KTPGS-1250 units are installed in two versions: three sets with a line cubicle and two without. Two more sites are a KTPGS-1000 for urban networks and a KTPGS-630 for a distribution system operator.

Description and purpose

KTPGS is a package transformer substation for urban networks in a steel "house-type" enclosure. It takes 10 (6) kV, steps it down to 0.4 kV and distributes it over outgoing lines; it is fully factory-assembled, with the power transformer and the HV and LV panels already installed. The design is through or dead-end, with cable or overhead incomer; the 2KTPGS version has two enclosures.

The power transformer rating is 160–1600 kVA: the transformer compartment is designed to the applicable codes for a transformer of up to 1600 kVA, and this is confirmed in service by 5 × KTPGS-1250 units at a 4.95 MW industrial solar plant. HV 6; 10 kV, LV 0.4 kV, rated HV current 630 A, LV busbars 400–2500 A, climatic version U1, maximum weight 6000 kg. The enclosure is Z275 galvanised steel; the warranty is 2 years (up to 5 years by agreement), 10 years for the enclosure steelwork, with a design service life of 25 years.

Functionally, KTPn, KTPGS, KTPMM and BKTP are the same substation — the difference is primarily the enclosure. KTPGS is chosen when an outdoor substation with a through scheme in a steel enclosure is needed; if insulation and internal servicing are required, that is KTPMM, and if reinforced concrete is required, that is BKTP. The enclosure, the switchgear cubicles and the assembly to your single-line diagram are manufactured by LK Energy (Odesa, own factory since 2015); the power transformer is a component supplied within the substation. FAQ

How does KTPGS differ from KTPn, KTPMM and BKTP?
Primarily by the enclosure. KTPGS is a steel "house-type" enclosure with a through scheme; KTPn is the cheapest outdoor substation but dead-end only; KTPMM is an insulated sandwich-panel module where the equipment is serviced from inside; BKTP is reinforced concrete. KTPGS and KTPMM overlap widely in capacity, so choosing between them is a choice of enclosure, not of a capacity ceiling.
What transformer rating can be installed in a KTPGS?
From 160 to 1600 kVA. The transformer compartment is designed to the applicable codes for a transformer of up to 1600 kVA. This is confirmed in service by 5 × KTPGS-1250 units at a 4.95 MW industrial solar plant.
What is included in the supply and what is costed separately?
The enclosure, the switchgear cubicles and the assembly to your single-line diagram are manufactured by LK Energy (Odesa). The power transformer is a component supplied within the substation. External networks, the foundation and on-site commissioning are costed separately.
What does the price depend on?
On the transformer rating, the design (through or dead-end), the incomer type (cable or overhead), the 0.4 kV busbar rating and whether sectionalising is required. We calculate the exact price from your single-line diagram or questionnaire.
How do I order a KTPGS and what is needed for a quotation?
The order goes like this: inquiry → calculation → quotation → contract → manufacturing → shipment. For the calculation we need: a single-line diagram or a completed questionnaire; the power transformer rating (from 160 to 1600 kVA); the design — through or dead-end; the incomer type — cable or overhead; the 0.4 kV busbar rating and whether sectionalising is required. The approximate price on this page is from UAH 400,000; the exact figure is calculated from your single-line diagram.
