Low-voltage switchgear (RUNN, РУНН) up to 5000 A

RUNN is a complete low-voltage assembly rated 0.4 kV that receives, sections, and distributes electricity along the outgoing lines. Unlike a complete transformer substation, RUNN does not contain a power transformer or a high-voltage compartment — it is a purely low-voltage cabinet with busbars, an input device, a sectionalizing connection, and outgoing line devices. It is used as the low-voltage part of pole-mounted and compact transformer substations — STP (СТП) and MTP (МТП) — as well as for power distribution at industrial and energy facilities.

The enclosure is made with a degree of protection of IP54, with a protective canopy over the door, allowing outdoor installation (outdoor mounting, climatic design U3). The design and single-line diagram are customer-project-specific: the number and ratings of input, sectionalizing, and outgoing devices, busbar cross-section, rated parameters and short-circuit withstand parameters, circuit, and layout are selected for the specific technical specification. Typical design — input + busbar sectionalizing connection + a group of outgoing devices with busbars for a rated current up to 5000 A.

Description and purpose

Low-voltage switchgear (LVS) up to 5000 A is a low-voltage 0.4 kV distribution unit (cabinet), not a complete transformer substation. It contains no power transformer: the LVS receives 0.4 kV from the transformer's low-voltage side and distributes it across outgoing feeders through incoming and feeder devices. The enclosure is built in a climate-rated design with IP54 protection and a protective canopy for outdoor installation on pole-mounted and mast substations, where the cabinet operates in the open air. Suitable for power grids, industry, solar power plants and utilities. Current ratings, configuration and design are built to the customer's project/specification. FAQ

Is LVS the same as a KTP (package transformer substation)?
No. A KTP is a complete substation with a power transformer and a high-voltage compartment. An LVS is only the low-voltage part (a 0.4 kV distribution cabinet) without a transformer. The LVS is installed as part of a substation, in particular a pole-mounted or mast type (outdoor pole/mast substation), to distribute voltage across outgoing feeders.
Can the LVS be installed outdoors?
Yes. The cabinet is made in U3 climate design with IP54 ingress protection and a protective canopy, which allows it to be installed in the open air — on pole-mounted and mast substations. The enclosure is resistant to corrosion and outdoor exposure.
What current rating do you manufacture the LVS for?
The rated current is selected per project — up to 5000 A. The number and type of incoming and feeder devices, the configuration and the dimensions are determined by the customer's technical specification. Specific ratings and current parameters are agreed based on your single-line diagram.
What devices are used in the LVS?
The LVS is 0.4 kV equipment, so low-voltage circuit breakers are used: air circuit breakers (ACB) on the incoming and bus-tie positions, and molded-case circuit breakers (MCCB) on the outgoing feeders. The type and ratings of the devices are selected per project/specification. Vacuum and SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride) devices are not used in the LVS — those are medium-voltage equipment.
