Pump Control Panels (PCP / ShUN) — 0.4 kV, built to project

General information

Purpose of the PCP

A pump control panel (PCP, Ukr. ШУН) is a 0.4 kV board that supplies and controls pump sets: booster and sewage pumping stations, drainage and fire pumps. Main circuits run at 380 V, 50 Hz; control circuits at ~220 V.

Panels for fire pumps are built to a separate technical specification, taking into account the requirements for fire protection systems.

Every panel is built for a specific project: the composition follows your automation design and the questionnaire.

What can be included — to project

  • starting method: direct on line with a contactor, soft starting, or variable-frequency control;
  • automatic transfer of the incoming supply;
  • motor protection, voltage and phase-sequence monitoring;
  • duty sequencing and rotation of the sets, operation by level or pressure;
  • dry-run protection — from a liquid level control relay or a sensor signal;
  • manual and automatic operating modes with a selector on the door;
  • visual and audible signalling of operation and faults, signals passed to the supervisory system.

This is a list of options rather than a fixed configuration: what is actually fitted is set by the project and recorded in the questionnaire and in the circuit diagram supplied with the passport.

What we have built

We describe delivered work by its composition — by what is actually fitted inside the panels.

  • Fire pumping station, 400 A: an incoming panel with automatic transfer, two starter panels with soft starting at 200 A / 110 kW and a third panel with direct starting — see the project case.
  • Sewage pumping station, 160 A: an incoming panel with automatic transfer and two starter panels, one of them with a liquid level control relay.
  • Control panel for four pumps, 2 A: "running", "fault" and "on" lamps, "start" and "stop" buttons for each pump, and four signal setting units.

LK Energy Group has been manufacturing switchgear equipment at its own factory in Odesa since 2015 (company since 2005). Every panel leaves the factory with a product passport and a circuit diagram; the acceptance test report is provided on request.

The acceptance test report is provided on request.

What is selected for the project

  • the starting method for each set and the device ratings by motor current and power;
  • automatic transfer of the incoming supply;
  • the operating algorithm: duty sequencing, rotation, operation by level or pressure;
  • controls on the door: mode selectors, buttons, lamps, metering and indication devices;

How to order

For a quotation send us the automation design or a list of the sets: the number of pumps, motor power, the starting method, the control method (level, pressure) and the installation site.

We quote the lead time together with the price, once the questionnaire is in: it depends on the set of devices and their availability.

Not intended for operation

  • in environments with conductive dust, caustic vapours or gases that destroy metal and insulation;
  • in places subject to heavy shaking, vibration or impact;
  • on mobile installations.

Warranty

Warranty on the product — 2 years (extended to 5 years by agreement); the enclosure metalwork — 10 years*. The design service life to write-off is 25 years, provided that components with a shorter service life are replaced.

*Approximate terms and conditions. The exact warranty period is set in the supply contract.

Description and purpose

A pump control panel (PCP) is a 0.4 kV board that supplies and controls pump sets: booster and sewage pumping stations, drainage and fire pumps; panels for fire pumps are built to a separate technical specification, taking into account the requirements for fire protection systems. Main circuits run at 380 V, 50 Hz and control circuits at ~220 V. The panel is built to project, and what exactly it carries — the starting method, automatic transfer of the supply, motor protection, operation by level or pressure, signalling — is set by your project and recorded in the questionnaire. In delivered work the rated current of the main circuits ran from 2 to 400 A, the ingress protection was IP31 and IP54, and the enclosures ranged from wall-mounted 400×400×350 mm at up to 15 kg to floor-standing 2000×800×800 mm with a 100 mm plinth at up to 200 kg. Starting was built direct with a contactor and soft with a 200 A / 110 kW unit; variable-frequency control is to project. LK Energy Group is a switchgear manufacturer from Odesa: the company has operated since 2005 and its own factory since 2015. Price on request.

FAQ

What do you put inside a pump control panel?
The constant part is the incoming device, the motor starting and protection devices and the ~220 V control circuits. Beyond that, to project: the starting method (direct, soft or variable-frequency), automatic transfer of the supply, voltage and phase-sequence monitoring, level relays, signalling and signals to the supervisory system. The list is recorded in the questionnaire.
Direct, soft or variable-frequency starting — which to choose?
We have built all three. Direct starting uses a contactor with a thermal relay: the simplest and cheapest option, with the highest inrush current. Soft starting removes water hammer and voltage dips: delivered work carried a soft starter of 200 A / 110 kW. Variable-frequency control holds pressure or flow — panels with a frequency converter are covered by a separate product card. Which one to fit is set by your project: motor power, the permissible inrush current and the need to regulate the flow.
A PCP, a ventilation control panel or a distribution board — which to choose?
A pump control panel carries the control circuits of pump sets: starting, motor protection, operation by level or pressure. A ventilation control panel (ShUV) follows the same logic for supply and exhaust units; its composition is likewise to project. A PR11 power distribution board has no control circuits at all: it takes one supply intake and distributes the lines with their own protection. If you need starting and automation, that is a control panel; if you only need the supply distributed, that is a distribution board.
Where can a PCP be installed?
Climatic version U3 means indoor premises. The ingress protection is selected by the installation site: delivered work included both IP31 and IP54. For damp premises and outdoor installation the ingress protection and the enclosure version are selected separately at the questionnaire stage.
What documentation do you issue for a PCP?
The product passport with the factory number and the circuit diagram for the specific version — both are part of the scope of supply. The acceptance test report is provided on request. Warranty — 2 years, extended to 5 years by agreement; the enclosure metalwork — 10 years. The exact warranty period is set in the supply contract. In our passports the product may carry its own factory designation — give it to the manager and we will match it to the diagram.
