Incoming Distribution Switchboards (VRP)

General information

Incoming-distribution devices VRP, UVR (ВРП, УВР) are designed (depending on panel type) for receiving, distributing and metering three-phase AC electric power with a voltage of 380/220 V, frequency 50 Hz, with a solidly earthed neutral, as well as for protecting lines against overloads and short-circuit currents.

The devices are designed for installation in electrical switchgear rooms. Wire and cable entry/exit is provided from below. The devices are manufactured for single-sided (front) access and are intended for operation in residential, communal-domestic and public buildings. Use of the devices at other facilities with a similar power supply scheme is permitted.

The VRP switching apparatus is of air-type and moulded-case design (switch-disconnectors, ПН-2/ППН fuses, MCCB/ACB circuit breakers, current transformers). The specific composition and ratings are selected for the project as per the technical specification (TS).

  • Rated operating mode — continuous.
  • Climatic design — U3.
  • Degree of protection — IP30, IP00 from the bottom side.
  • Busbar (rated) current — generally up to 1000 A (per project).

The devices comply with DSTU EN 61439-1, DSTU IEC 60439-1 and the manufacturer's own technical specifications (TU). VRP units are manufactured to order per the technical specification; ratings, apparatus set and panel layout are determined by the project.

Description and purpose

An incoming distribution switchboard (VRP/UVR) is a low-voltage 0.4 kV (380/220 V, 50 Hz) switchgear assembly for receiving, distributing and metering electricity at the point of entry into a building or facility, with protection of the lines against overloads and short circuits. The assembly's rated current varies depending on the configuration, typically up to 1000 A. Ratings, the set of apparatus (disconnect switches, PN-2/PPN fuses, circuit breakers, current transformers, metering unit) and the panel layout are engineered to your project specification. LK Energy Group is an Odesa-based manufacturer of switchgear equipment, in business since 2005: we design and build VRPs for your specific task, with a warranty and compliance with current standards.

Questions & answers

FAQ

What is a VRP/UVR and which facilities is it designed for?
A VRP (incoming distribution switchboard) is a low-voltage 0.4 kV switchgear assembly installed at the point where the supply cable enters a building. It receives electricity, meters it, and distributes it among consumers (apartments, offices, floor-level panels, workshops), while also protecting the lines against overloads and short-circuit currents. It is used in residential, municipal/utility, public and industrial facilities with a similar power-supply arrangement.
What current is the VRP rated for?
The busbar (rated) current depends on the configuration and the apparatus selected, and is typically up to 1000 A. The specific rating is determined by the project design to match your load. If higher currents are required, we develop an individual solution to your specification.
Is it a standard design or built to project specification?
The VRP is manufactured to order according to your specification. The project design determines the rated current, the composition of the incoming and outgoing apparatus (disconnect switches, PN-2/PPN fuses, circuit breakers, current transformers), the metering unit, and the number and layout of the panels. A typical example: an incoming panel with a disconnect switch and current transformers for metering, plus distribution panels with groups of circuit breakers for outgoing lines, combined in a single assembly.
Can incoming supply, metering and distribution be combined in a single VRP?
Yes. Most VRP configurations combine the incoming apparatus, the metering unit and groups of circuit breakers for outgoing lines within a single cabinet (or an assembly of several panels). For smaller facilities, the VRP effectively serves as the main distribution board.
What standards does LK Energy equipment comply with?
VRPs are manufactured in accordance with DSTU EN 61439-1 / DSTU IEC 60439-1 (Ukrainian national standards) and the manufacturer's own technical specifications. Climatic design and degree of protection (typically IP30, IP00 on the underside) are agreed to match the operating conditions. The switching apparatus is of the air-break and molded-case type (disconnect switches, fuses, circuit breakers); these are 0.4 kV devices for the reception, metering and distribution of electricity.
