Mobile battery energy storage systems

Overview

A mobile storage system is the same storage technology: rather than being installed permanently, it is driven to wherever power is needed and then moves on.

Typical jobs:

  • sites with no grid connection — construction, quarries, remote works, where running a line costs more than bringing the energy in;
  • temporary supply during grid work, a substation repair or switching operations;
  • events — where a diesel generator is unwelcome because of noise and exhaust;
  • emergency backup that can be moved to whichever site needs it today.

Where this is already running

LK Energy has no Turtle M installations of its own yet — so what follows is not geography but the jobs this class of equipment is built for. We are not going to invent sites. According to the vendor, Turtle M units operate at Hengdian World Studios (Jinhua, China): 16.7 MW / 34.7 MWh. This site was not built by LK Energy.

  • Construction sites — supply until a permanent connection is available.
  • Emergency supply — the station is moved to wherever backup is needed today.
  • Events and temporary sites — where a diesel generator is awkward because of noise and exhaust.
  • Grid works — supplying consumers while a substation is repaired or switching is carried out.

What we can confirm from our own experience is working with this manufacturer's equipment: W ENERGY containerised systems totalling 20.064 MWh were installed and are serviced by us as part of a 4.95 MW industrial solar plant.

What our own work covers

We supply the equipment as an official dealer. Our own part:

  • The switchgear. A mobile station has to be connected to something: temporary switchgear, an incomer cabinet, protection and metering on site. That is designed and built by our plant in Odesa.
  • Commissioning on site — connection, checks, putting the unit into service.
  • Servicing — scheduled maintenance, BMS checks, battery diagnostics: BESS servicing.

Manufacturer warranty: 5 years on the key components (BMS, EMS, inverter, PCS, liquid cooling); the battery carries a 10-year performance warranty under the manufacturer's conditions (8000 cycles, 70 % depth of discharge, up to 0.5P, 70 % remaining capacity, 10 to 30 °C).

FAQ

Why choose a mobile station over a diesel generator?
It makes no noise, produces no exhaust and needs no fuel on site. Where a generator is awkward because of noise or restrictions — in a city, at an event, indoors — storage runs quietly. The trade-off is plain: a generator runs as long as there is fuel, storage runs as long as there is charge, after which it has to be recharged.
How long will it carry a load?
It is a straight division: capacity by the power of your load. The Turtle M 964 kWh at a 100 kW load gives roughly nine and a half hours; at 500 kW, roughly two. We do the exact calculation from your profile, allowing a margin.
How is it delivered, and is a crane needed?
The station measures 6058 × 2438 × 2591 mm — a standard 20-foot format, so logistics are routine. The transport arrangement and the way it is set down we agree for the chosen model and site: exact transport dimensions and weight are given in the commercial proposal, from the manufacturer's specification.
Can it work outdoors in frost?
All three Turtle M models have an operating range of −30 to +55 °C, are rated IP54 and carry C4 corrosion class. Permissible humidity is 5–90 % RH and installation altitude up to 4000 m.
Can a configuration be built for a specific task?
Yes. The series has three sizes — 964, 1446 and 1929 kWh; the power rating and the connection scheme we select for your load profile, and the switchgear part on site we design and build ourselves.
