Construction of a 35/10 kV Substation for a Greenhouse Complex

The company's design department carried out topographic-geodetic and geological surveys, developed the design and cost documentation, and coordinated it with the power supply utility, regulatory authorities and municipal services. Thanks to the high qualification of the department's specialists, effective technical solutions were adopted that made it possible to build the electrical networks in the shortest possible time while achieving high operational and technical-economic performance.

The substation design was developed using three-dimensional (3D) modeling, which made it possible to rule out potential inaccuracies when using non-standard assemblies.

To connect the designed substation to the regional grid operator's (Oblenergo) electrical networks, projects were carried out for the reconstruction of the supplying substation "Surska-35" and the construction from it of two mutually redundant 35 kV cable lines. During the reconstruction of the "Surska-35" substation, two 35 kV high-voltage packaged switchgear cells were installed, and the secondary circuits of relay protection, automation and telemechanics were technically upgraded. An ASKUE (automated commercial electricity metering system) is provided for monitoring consumed electricity.

The first stage of the construction and installation works was the laying of two 35 kV cable lines (CL), each more than three kilometers long. The trench for the cables was dug under varying conditions, since the cable line route passed through a forest belt, crossed agricultural fields and the Mokra Sura River. This was the first time the company had encountered laying a cable under a riverbed, but thanks to the qualification of the contractors engaged to carry out the works, this experience proved to be very successful. Vadym Fast, an employee of the contracting organization who performed the horizontal directional drilling, managed to complete the bore under the Mokra Sura only on the seventh attempt, since vertical granite strata lie at the base of the riverbank.

While the installation crews were laying the high-voltage cables, at the substation the construction workers were carrying out preparatory works for pouring the foundations for the power transformers.
